The idea of magnetic stones having the ability to help heal is not a new concept. Magnets have been used in holistic medicine for centuries in many different cultures. Some historians believe that magnetic therapy dates back more than 4,000 years. While its usage in the North America was popular at the turn of the nineteenth century, a resurgence of interest has only occurred within the past decade. A possible explanation for this is that until recently, scientists believed that life was mostly a biochemical process.
The idea that magnetic fields could significantly influence living systems seemed far-fetched. Perspectives have shifted rapidly, however, and many scientists now believe that at some level, we are fundamentally magnetic creatures as well. Recent studies have shown that we are affected by magnetic fields and that we generate them as well. I n fact, scientists are now able to measure the brain and heart's magnetic fields with instruments called the magnetocephalograph and magnetocardiogram respectfully. |
