   About Our Magnets

Our magnetic beads are composed of neodymium, iron, boron (NdFeB). They are initially ground into a powdered mixture which is then pressed under great pressure into moulds. The material is then heated under a vacuum, cooled, and then sliced into the desired shape. A coating is then applied. Finally, the blank magnets are magnetized by exposing them to a very powerful magnetic field.

Neodymium magnets are a member of the rare earth magnetic family. They are called "rare earth" because neodymium is a member of the "rare earth" elements on the periodic table. Neodymium magnets are the strongest of the rare earth magnets and are the strongest permanent, or static, magnets available. Neodymium magnets are the most widely used for healing purposes, provide the best conductive field, and are called healing magnets for that reason.

For a magnet to be therapeutic, it must be able to penetrate the skin and create a magnetic field. Gauss is the unit by which the strength of a magnet is measured-the higher the Gauss, the stronger the magnet. A strength rating of at least 800 Gauss is necessary to penetrate through the skin and into the body. A healing magnet should therefore have a minimum strength of 800 Gauss.

Neodymium magnets are considered to have the deepest penetrating fields. Each of the neodymium magnetic beads used in our jewellery has a Gauss rating of 5,000 and is able to penetrate 2-4 inches below the skin.
